Book Review & Giveaway: Summer Rental by Mary Kay Andrews
Today’s gift: the My So-Called Sensory Life “Summer Reading Series.”
Over the course of the next month, we’ll travel to quintessential summer vacation spots — from the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the pristine New England island of Nantucket (and we’ll make a few stops in between). The books I’ll feature will refresh, recharge and hopefully replace your reality for at least a few hours.
I’m kicking off my new reading series today with bestselling author Mary Kay Andrews’ delicious and delightful new book SUMMER RENTAL.
Set in the Outer Banks, SUMMER RENTAL is the perfect vacation escape reading. In fact, sitting at home I could smell the sea breeze and feel the sand between my toes as I joined best friends Ellis, Julia and Dorie on their month-long vacation.
Mary Kay Andrews is a masterful story-teller — you’ll recognize yourself and your friends in her colorful characters and you’ll long for the surf and sun every time you open the book. I’ve visited the Outer Banks and MKA effortlessly captures the essence of OBX.
I don’t want to give away any juicy details so I’ll end my review by saying this: my one criteria for summer escape reading is never wanting to put the book down. SUMMER RENTAL surprised me until the last page. It’s easy to see why USA TODAY and PEOPLE magazine included the book on their Summer 2011 Beach Read lists and now you can, too!
I’m giving away one autographed copy of SUMMER RENTAL here on My So-Called Sensory Life.

Mary Kay, I just love your books and your delightful sense of humor. You can make me laugh and what a fine talent to be blessed with. I was also impressed with the recipes. I adore southern cooking. My favorite of yours is Beyond The Grave Chicken Salad. Yumm. I would love to win SUMMER RENTAL. If I do win, please dedicate it ~ To my adoring fan.

Love, love, love your books! Since I can’t afford a vacation this summer, i’ll be spending it in my backyard. Nothing better than a daiquiri and a Mary Kay Andrewsbook in my hammock on a hot day!!

Today is my birthday and this would be a great birthday present!
LOL! No seriously, since I’m a stay at home mom, buying books are out of the question. Only library books. I live in a small town and our library has limited funding (Gary Byker Library, Hudsonville, MI) and they can not afford to purchase many new books. So what happens is if you want a book that was just released and if my library does not purchase it, I have to wait 6 months to put that book on hold to borrow from another library. No one likes to read Christmas books in the Summer and Summer books in Winter but that is what happens
Love your books and thanks so much for the opportunity to try and win!

I’ve managed to read all but 2 of Mary Kay Andrews’ books in the 4 weeks I’ve been home awaiting the arrival of our first baby! They’ve been the perfect humorous escapes from boredom and anxiety.
